Mermaids and Mischief Recap
Over 30 women joined forces for a spectacular afternoon of shared excitement, learning and laughter. Read more about it.

Mermaids & Mischief Recap

The name Mermaids & Mischief was conceived at a baby shower for CYC member Patty Thompson.  In 2000, the first event was a lively gathering at the home of Diana Fischer, CYC’s first woman Commodore.  It was attended by about thirty women. While it didn’t become an annual event then, it was resurrected on January 24th, 2016 by club members Judy Dick and Stephanie Regan and, in Diana’s words, “Taken to a whole new level”.
Over 30 women joined forces for a spectacular afternoon of shared excitement, learning and laughter,
while enjoying:

  • Painting classes with Debra Maddox, a Marin County artist and educator;
  • Eva Clairborne, a skin care expert, educator and innovator;
  • Jennifer Kahn, owner of Lush Bubble, a local nursery with exquisite succulents;
  • Terumi Leinow, a Marin Master Gardener;
  • Megan Scott, Ph.D., teaching the mind, body and spirit experience of yoga;
  • Nancy Mimms, professional choreographer and dance instructor; and
  • Marybeth Bond, travel and adventure consultant.

The highlight of the afternoon was a wine tasting organized by CYC member Nancee Rubenstein featuring the Boisset Family Estates collection of premium Franco-American wines matched with fruits and cheeses.  Renne Re Bell of Gourmet, Food and Wine Tours assisted.
As we watched the sun set over the Golden Gate Bridge, everyone agreed it was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon.  The
women had a blast and this would be the first of many Mermaids & Mischief events to come!
Sincere thanks to everyone who participated in making it such an amusing and pleasurable time - especially to Diana Fischer for her unforgettable stories!
