Joining Corinthian Yacht Club

The Corinthian Yacht Club, established in 1886, was formed to advance, promote, share and improve knowledge related to yachting, seamanship, navigation, racing, boat designing and modeling. Dedicated to boat owners and non-owners who are interested in boating, cruising, racing, and the Club's elegant facilities, The Corinthian Yacht Club is truly unique. Classes of Membership

All applicants are subject to being elected to membership (contact the Club office for details). The following types of membership may be available to prospective new members: Regular, Regular Senior, Regular Spousal, Junior Adult, Junior, Race, Crew, Associate.

Regular	Open to adults 21 years of age or more. Entitled to the full range of privileges of Club membership. Reduced fees under 25.
Regular Spousal	Same as Regular, but open to married couples. Both spouses share access to the full range of privileges of a single Club membership. The initiation fee and dues are the same as one Regular membership,
Junior	Open to persons who are less than 21 years of age. Reduced initiation and monthly dues.
Race	Open to a yacht owner or charterer who has been elected to membership and who has enrolled his or her yacht in the Club and actively races said yacht under the auspices of a recognized yacht racing association, or of the Corinthian Yacht Club's Friday Night Race Series, exclusively under the burgee of the Club. Reduced initiation and monthly dues.
Crew	Open to bona fide members of the crew of a Club-enrolled sailing yacht which is raced under the burgee of the Club in a racing program of a recognized yacht racing association, or of the Corinthian Yacht Club's Friday Night Race Series. Reduced initiation and monthly dues.
Associate	Open to persons whose principal place of residence is 50 statute miles or more in a direct line, and whose boat(s), if any, is(are) regularly berthed or stored 15 statute miles or more in a direct line from the Club premises. Reduced initiation and monthly dues.
Other Classes of Membership	The Club also has Non-Resident, Life, Special Associate, and Honorary memberships, however these classes of membership are not open to application by prospective new members. Contact the Club office for further details.

Rights and Privileges of Membership

1. ALL CLASSES of membership are entitled to the Club burgee, use of the clubhouse, bar and Member's Dining Room, reserve use of the guest dock and anchorages, attend Club events and receive the Club's newsletter. The Club has a very active calendar, hosting more than 60 social events, cruises and races per year.  
2. REGULAR CLASSES -- in addition to #1 above, "Regular", "Regular Spousal" and "Regular Senior" members shall be entitled to use the Club parking lot, rent berthing, dry boat storage space, dinghy racks or lockers, or hold a position on a waiting list for such purposes, vote, or hold office.  
3. JUNIOR CLASSES -- in addition to #1 above, "Junior" and "Junior Adult" members may rent uncovered dinghy racks.  
4. RACE AND CREW CLASSES -- in addition to #1 above, "Race" members may hold positions on waiting lists for berthing, dry boat storage space, or lockers, but must upgrade to "Regular" Membership before renting such space or leasing berthing.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Do I have to be a boat owner?

No, in fact many Club members do not own a boat. You should simply have an interest in activities related to boats or yachting activies. The Club is a great venue to meet other boaters and accompany them on boating activities, be it an informal pleasure outing or one of the Club's many yacht races or organized cruising destinations. Of course, the Club also offers numerous social events: elegant black tie affairs, summer barbeques, dining, dancing, and family-oriented events, throughout the year.

• Are power boaters/ racing sailors/ cruising sailors/ dinghy racers/ fishing enthusiasts/ row boaters all welcome?

Yes, the Club doesn't favor one type of boating activity over another. The Club has members with a wide range of boating interests, and about half of the members are power boaters.

• What is required to become a race/ crew member?

Race and Crew memberships are intended as a means of increasing the number of boats flying the Club burgee in YRA and other officially sanctioned regattas or in the Club's Friday Night Race Series. The Crew applicant must be a regular crew member of a boat flying the Club burgee in a substantial percentage of qualifying regattas. The boat owner must provide documentation annually to demonstrate that the boat has been involved in at least half of the races in the class or division for which the member was eligible. "Race" and "Crew" Memberships are limited to three years, at which time the membership must be upgraded to another membership class.

• Can I a berth in the Club harbor?

There is a waiting list for berth assignment which is open to "Regular", "Regular Spousal", "Regular Senior", "Race", and "Crew" members. The waiting lists are posted on the bulletin board opposite the Club Office. "Race" and "Crew" members must upgrade their membership to "Regular" status before accepting a berth assignment.

• Where do I get those great Corinthian Yacht Club shirts/ jackets/ ties/ hats?

The Club's TCW (The Corinthian Women) operates a store with numerous high quality Club logo shirts, hats, jackets, totes, etc., that can be purchased by club members or their guests. The store is opened at certain club events or anytime by appointment with the Club office. Proceeds from the store are used by the TCW to make an annual gift to the Club. For example, recently the TCW purchased Mermaid, the Club's new shore boat.
