House Rules
House Rules
Revised and approved by the House Committee January 2007
1) Basic Corinthian Conduct. Every Member is expected to act at all times with civility and respect to Members, guests, staff, and visitors, and in a way that will bring credit to each other and to the Club. The rules set out below are to further explain this basic tenet and the ways we cooperate to use our facilities. Whether at the Club facilities or participating in a race or Club event, all shall:
a) avoid offensive or excessively boisterous behavior, including physical altercation; and
b) show appropriate respect for the regulations and customs of other host clubs.
2) Clubhouse. Members and their family members residing with them are entitled to use the Clubhouse facilities.
a) Minors in Bar. Persons under 21 years of age may not stand or sit at the bar at any time and shall stay off the wooden floor surrounding the bar, but they may order beverages at the South end of the bar.
b) Bar TV. Audio and video programming in the bar will be determined by the Vice Commodore (or senior officer present) and is primarily intended to be sailing and other sporting content.
c) Boardroom. The Boardroom (library) is available for use by Members, but may be reserved for Club meetings or other events via the Club Manager.
d) Attire. Health regulations require, at a minimum, shirts and shoes in the bar and dining areas.
e) Member Events. An adult (21+) Member in good standing may apply to the Vice Commodore or his designee for use of a portion of the Clubhouse for a private event hosted by the Member.
f) Private Events. Portions of the Clubhouse, particularly the Ballroom, may be reserved with the consent of the Vice Commodore for private events of Members or others, such as weddings parties, or memorial services. Members shall not, uninvited, intrude on private events. Exclusive use of the entire facility is not permitted.
g) The Kitchen is closed except to staff.
h) Private Food and Liquor. In accordance with catering contracts and various regulations, no-one may bring their own food or liquor into the Clubhouse or onto the upper deck except as part of a prearranged Club event.
i) Skateboards, Scooters, and Roller skates or Blades may not be used on the premises. Bicycles must be parked in the space provided and may not be brought up to upper deck.
3) Guests. Members may bring accompanied guests to the Club, or they may obtain a guest card for them for a limited time at the front office. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests, accompanied or not.
4) Visiting Boaters. Members of reciprocal yacht clubs and owners and crew of vessels visiting our harbor are welcome and will be extended dining and bar privileges at the Clubhouse, as will the crew of Club Member boats when accompanied by the Member.
5) Property. No-one may rent, borrow, or remove any Club food, beverages, property, supplies or equipment without the permission of the appropriate Flag Officer. Anyone who negligently or willfully causes damage to any Club property will be responsible for the full cost of replacement or repair. The Club is not responsible for any losses to Members or others on its premises.
6) Animals, Smoking, Cell Phones. Dogs and other pets are allowed only on the main (ground-level) deck and the docks and shall be leashed. Smoking is not permitted inside any building, and smokers are requested to smoke away from the immediate vicinity of the doors and open windows. The use of cell phones or similar devices is not allowed in the public areas of the Clubhouse.
7) Fishing is not allowed on or from the premises.
8) Parking. The parking lot is for temporary parking by Members, not storage of vehicles, and is subject to space availability.
a) Only One car per membership with parking privileges may be in the lot at a time, regardless of the number of passes or stickers held. Members shall not admit others not authorized to park in the lot.
b) Current Stickers or a pass must be displayed on a vehicle parked in the lot.
c) Time. Members may leave their cars in the lot when on a club activity, cruise or related event, or while boating. A vehicle may not be left in the lot for other purposes or for over five days without the prior written permission of the Vice Commodore or his designee.
d) Parking must only be in a single designated space, and not in fire lanes, or handicapped spaces (except by handicapped person with permit).
e) Charges of $20 per car per day may be assessed for violation of parking rules. The Club may tow cars not in compliance at the owner’s expense.
9) Staff. The employees of the Club are tasked with projects benefiting the Club and the general membership.
a) Errands. Members may not send staff members on errands.
b) Reprimands. If there is a problem with the performance of a staff member, a Member should inform the General Manager, appropriate flag officer, or board, preferably in writing. Members should not personally reprimand staff.
c) Individual Tipping of staff by Members is not appropriate.
10) Tradespersons coming onto the premises must register contact and vehicle information with the front office, and they must check in with the office during business hours to be admitted to the parking lot, depending on availability. Tradespersons shall not block access to the parking lot if access is not immediately obtained. Access outside of regular business hours may be arranged in an urgent situation via the front office, an Officer or Director, or the dock steward. Regular visitors to the premises may be required to show proof of insurance and a business license.
11) Junior Members and Children shall obey equally all regulations which apply to adult Members and should conduct themselves in a manner which will bring credit to themselves, their families, and the Club.
a) Members are encouraged to provide for appropriate and enjoyable activities for their youngsters at the Club.
b) Appropriate Adult Supervision should be provided for children for their safety and guidance and for the comfort of others at the Club.
c) Members Observing the occasional, and inevitable, misbehavior of youngsters are urged to bring it to the attention of the adult responsible for them, and may advise the General Manager, an Officer, or House Committee if circumstances warrant.
12) Violation of House Rules or Club Bylaws may result in a fine, suspension, or expulsion of a Member in accordance with the By-Laws at the discretion of the Board. In the event of misconduct, any two Flag Officers may bar a Member or non-member from any or all of the premises of the Club until the next meeting of the board. The Board or House Committee may temporarily or permanently exclude a non-member from the premises for good cause, or may apply a “community service” type response to an incident where appropriate.
13) Money and Notices.
a) Only Club Accounts may be used for Member purchases at the Club.
b) Reservations for Club Events must be cancelled at least 48 hours in advance (5 calendar days in advance for New Years) or the full fee must be charged. Cruises and special events may have additional advance cancellation requirements as determined by the organizer.
c) Payment of bills is due on the 24th of the month in which the bill is rendered. Interest of 2% begins to accrue on the outstanding balance at the end of the month, and the bill becomes delinquent on the 10th of the following month.
d) Returned Checks shall bear a fee of $20.
e) Notices of any kind required to be given under the By-Laws are conclusively deemed given when deposited in U.S. Mail addressed as shown in the records of the Club as the Member’s last known address or delivered to the Member in person. It is the Member’s sole responsibility to keep the Club apprised of his or her current address and to maintain his or her account current.
