Well, it was a bit harder than prior years. First of all, we got a "volunteer" from the Peoples Racing Organization. He insisted on a course "designed to eliminate any embarassment." At least that's what we think he said. Our mandarin is a bit rusty. (It sounded like "Ni yao chi shenme? Jin-tian de gu lao rou hen hao.") His course started the boats at Raccoon straits, then loaded them all into a truck and put them back in the water at McCovey Cove for about 40 feet, then heli-lifted to the drydocks at alameda where the race would continue on Lake Arawen on Second Life.
That really seemed to be a bad idea, so we went with a pretty much standard set of courses, including reinstating the ever-popular S-4-Y-F course that got left out a while back.
But wait! There's more! We got a strong J105 class. We are letting them start first because those big prongy things pointing out of their pointy ends sort of creep us out. The smallest boats are next, because we have ALWAYS wanted to see them finish (albeit without a big prongy thing stuck in their transom, but ... whatever). Then we move to the normal order, roughly in order of average rating per class.
But enough about us, how about you? WOuldn't you like to enter? It's really fun to watch the race committee freak out with a whole ton of last minute entries. I won't be there, so go ahead, swamp them with a whole boatload of entry forms!
Remember, even with throwouts, the races start from the first one.
What else do you get? Old and new courses, old and new entrants, old and new race committee! Racers' Grill, new shoreboat, on-line results, daily trophies, the triumph of victory, the agony of... um... nothing, this is Marin County where everything is just Marvelous!
Every evening, there will be daily trophies and good times. July 4 will not count as part of the series, but will include a special standalone event, included in your entry fee.
Here is the NOR, and here is the Entry Form!
