Special Events

Throughout the year, CYC holds numerous special events on the water and in the Clubhouse. Many are open to the public such as the MidWinter Regatta, Wooden Boat Show and Women's Sailing Seminar.

On the water events include the Friday Night “beer can” races during the season, and a schedule of club regattas throughout the summer and early fall. There are “Member Sail Days” when skippers on a variety of boats offer to take members for a day on the bay. There are also monthly “cruise outs” during the season, where CYC vessels visit other yacht clubs throughout the bay and in the Delta. There is even a Ski Cruise to Lake Tahoe.

Club events include Opening Day, begun in the early 1800s and with the Corinthian adding “the blessing of the fleet” in 1963; Cooks and Waiters – an annual tradition begun in 1898; the Commodore’s Ball, a themed event to fete each year’s commodore; a Thanksgiving dinner and holiday Egg Nog Party; and the extremely popular New Year’s Eve dinner and dance.

See the CYC online calendar for events, dates and times.
